Harare music promoter commits suicide

HARARE music promoter Tawanda Chiranga allegedly took poison and died at Parirenyatwa Hospital, close associates have confirmed.
Chiranga was a close lieutenant to Barbara Chikosi of Red Rose Entertainment
Chikosi said Chiranga owed a workmate at Red Rose only identified as Jean $450 which he lost in a botched motor spares deal.
"I am told Tawanda borrowed money from Jean to purchase minibus spare parts that he had been told would sell double the price. It appears the deal did not materialise and he ended up losing the money," she said.
"No one told me what was happening until last Thursday morning when Jean came to confess but Tawanda had been taken into custody by the police in Glen Norah."
Chikosi said Jean is alleged to be connected with some senior cops who facilitated Chiranga's arrest.
Details are still sketchy on the funeral and burial arrangements but mourners are understood to be gathered at his house at Spaceman in Glen Norah.
Chiranga worked at Red Rose Entertainment for many years and was pivotal in bringing in artistes such as Jamaicans Capleton and Turbulence.
