Dancehall singer lands lucrative deal with fashion house

Soul Jah Love, real name Soul Musaka, who scooped two accolades at last Wednesday’s Zim Dancehall Awards at the Zimbabwe College of Music, has landed a lucrative deal with top fashion house Jan Jam Fashions.
The talented artiste, who is set to formally engage with his sweetheart Bounty Lisa, aka Lynet Musenyi, at a public event in the Harare Gardens this Saturday, will be dressed by the leading fashion house.
Speaking shortly after concluding the deal, whose finer details will be made public at a later date, Soul Jah Love could not hide his excitement, saying the deal was not only good for him but for Zim dancehall as a whole.
“Good times are definitely on the horizon. We have seen Winky D getting several endorsement deals, then Killer T and now it’s Soul Jah Love. Next it will be someone else and this goes to show that the corporate world, despite the negativity in our industry, is beginning to warm up to us,” said Soul Jah Love.
Jan Jam Fashions managing director Cynthia Sithole praised Soul Jah Love for making such a bold move when many youths frown upon marriage.
“Yes, Soul Jah Love is popular, but that is only secondary to us, the most important thing is that this young man is getting married and as Jan Jam we support such a move. We already have endorsement deals with other artistes, but this is our first with a dancehall artiste.
Details of the contract will become public knowledge at some stage, but for now we will let both parties settle in. As Jan Jam Fashions we are committed to partnerships with our local celebrities and assisting those that we feel may need our help,” said Sithole.
Soul Jah Love, who is set to tour Britain in early May, also took the opportunity to urge fellow musicians to hire professional managers, who have the artistes’ long-term interests at heart.
“We just brought in new management, Zikhali Productions. They are professionalising our outfit, ensuring that all that talk about Soul Jah Love failing to fulfil shows, etcetera, is a thing of the past. Many have been wondering how I got to be driving a Hummer H2 or a Bentely, they are behind all this, in fact, the company is buying us a house. As soon as the paperwork is done, we will let people know,” said Soul Jah Love

Andy Brown tribute project launched

Over a year after musician Andy Brown’s death, his daughter  Ammara has embarked on a mission to celebrate her father’s music with the world through the “Andy Brown Forever Project”.
For more than three decades, his guitar riffs and edgy acoustic sound mesmerised both Zimbabweans and the international music scene and shared stages with luminaries such as Salif Keita, Baba Maal, Miriam Makeba and Manu Dibango.
After a long stint with the group Ilanga Andy went solo forming his own band, The Storm with whom he went on to release more than 10 albums.
His music incorporated mbira rhythms, and even the West African kora, as he became one of Zimbabwe’s biggest exports to world music.
Hits like “Mapurisa”, “Mawere Kongonya” and “Shungu” have left an indelible mark on the modern culture of the Zimbabwean people and on the African music landscape.
In fact, Andy’s original track, “Shungu” was picked up and remixed by South African group Revolution who renamed it “ZimConnection” and took the song to unimaginable music chart heights.
In this regard Ammara has launched a project to honour and remember the works of her late father, beginning with a song on  which she collaborated with fellow musician Jah Prayzah called “Kure Kure”.
The song is a love song that tells the tale of a couple pining for each other given the distance between them. It’s essentially a great Valentine’s song for couples far apart.
“Being mbira players we had an effortless time writing ‘Kure Kure’ with Jah Prayzah.
“It is a song all of you can connect with and an echo of the way I feel when I think of my dad,” reveals Ammara about the track, which is receiving massive airplay on local radio stations.
“A number of more songs with various artistes are on the way as I try my best to honour him. We are also planning a commemorative gig that will bring together many artists.”

An Open Letter To Elikem

We came across one article from a twitter user , @AnoShumba and this is what he had to say.

Dear Elikem

I hope this finds you in good faith.

This is a response to sentiments that you passed to Zimbabwean women with regards to their ‘poor way of dressing and lack of manners and culture’, which I label as nothing but an insult to Zimbabwean women. My not being woman does not mean I don’t have the prerogative right to dissect your horrifyingly wicked opinions. It is never wise for the person of you considering your following to blanket an entire sex based on a small personal experience that you encountered.

Zim fashion designer up for top Vogue award

Nominated for top design award ... Pamela Samasuwo-Nyawiri

UK-BASED Zimbabwean fashion accessory designer, Pamela Samasuwo-Nyawiri, has been nominated for the prestigious Vogue and Muuse Talents Young Vision Accessories Award for ‘The Best Emerging International Fashion Accessories Designer’.
The award recognises the most influential emerging designers in fashion today and celebrates the reputation and development of fashion worldwide.
Pam is the first African to ever go through the nomination process for this award, and has whizzed through 10,000 potential accessory designers to be among the remaining 180 for the 2014 award.
Commenting on the nomination, Pam said she was humbled by the support she has received, adding that her main goal was to elevate the status of the African Fashion Industry.
She said while Africa continued to be used as inspiration by the West, it was still not taken seriously as a credible industry and that it was very frustrating to note that anything to do with fashion in Africa was credited to only a few African countries.

Furious Pokello has finally cracked after being hounded and ridiculed by someone on Instagram.

Let me introduce to you all, my biggest hater. Her name is @langagwelo. You want to be famous? I will make it easy for u. Let this be a point of reference to anyone else who feels the need to share their vast and intricate knowledge of me. I have noticed your comments on my posts several times dear @Langagwelo so now let me school u.
You said I didn’t have O’level education? Ur dad must have been one of my Teachers. I suggest u use ur $1 airtime the same u log onto Instagram to google Monash University Graduating Class of 2009. U seem to like mentioning my leaked sextape or informing people about its existence. It is unfortunate that your desires to see my life crumble after the sextape could not be fulfilled. sweetheart, the downfall of my Vagina is not the downfall of my Brain!

Last time I checked I had 6 pageant titles, a high-end store and was making headlines in newspapers way before that sextape. So I’m sorry that u r so affected by why a Ho like me is famous but I guess either your mother sxxx you or slept with so many men the night u were conceived, because it’s only such a challenging start to life that can lead u monitor the activities of my vagina and it’s occupants.

Melissa Moyo finally confirms she is dating Rapper Stunner

After months of speculation Stunner’s die hard fans will be overjoyed to learn he has finally moved on after the cold hard months of “singledom” following being dumped live on Television by Pokello Nare, whom he arguably catapulted to stardom. Lets face facts Pokello was just another statistic before the sextape with Stunner was leaked. Nobody gave a hoot who she was then, but after the sextape her fortunes took a turn for the better the zenith being getting into BBA, Stunner however was struck by a number of misfortunes, chief among them being losing lucrative endorsements as well as the waning popularity after leakage of the bedroom gymnastics.
